August 14 & 16: Healthy Steps for Older Adults: A program to prevent falls at York Alliance Church, 501 Rathon Rd., York. 9 am-12 pm. Healthy Steps is a new program to prevent falls and promote health and wellness. Have fun and learn about Healthy Steps you can take to prevent falls. August 15 @ 6 p.m.:  HABPI Bike Ride (location starting at the parking lot of the Gettysburg Area School District Middle School (behind Mr.G’s Ice Cream Store):  Two moderate-paced ride options (13 – 15 mph), leaving at 6 p.m. from the parking lot of the Middle School, behind Mr. G’s Ice Cream store.  Riders will head out of Gettysburg and ride either a 20-mile route or 10-mile route with an optional opt-out at 7- miles (depending on rider’s choice) over quiet country roads.  An optional ice cream stop at the end of the ride is planned (participants are responsible for paying for their own ice cream).  For questions email jgastley2@wellspan.org or call 717-337-4137.  Registration is not required.

September 20:  Run/Walk for Peace (included on the Fall Walking Party Series List)  Times:  5:45 pm (free t-shirts for first 100 particpants); 6:00 pm (walkers);  6:30 pm (runners) (located at Appalachian Brewing Company (70 Presidential Circle, Gettysburg, PA)).  Free 5k (can be ran or walked) organized by YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County, Healthy Adams County’s Physical Fitness Task Force and Gettysburg Beer Runners celebrating an evening of solidarity by bringing the community together on the eve of the International Day of Peace.    Pre-registration is not required.

September 23 @ 9 a.m.:  Tennis Clinic with Nell Matthews (located at Gettysburg Swim & Tennis LLC (former Gettysburg Country Club) (730 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, PA)):  Singles, doubles or against a backboard on your own, tennis is a great activity that can keep you in shape whether you are age 5 or 95. It keeps your cardiovascular system in top shape even as you age. September 29 from 11 am to 2 pm:  Health Literacy Fair (located at Gettysburg Area Recreational Park (545 Long Lane, Gettysburg)):  Come learn about useful tips to help you navigate your own health care.
