 Picturing the Blues Photography Exhibition

The Adams County Arts Council will celebrate the opening of Picturing the Blues: Photography for Healing Exhibit on Friday, April 5, 5-7:30 p.m. at the Arts Education Center, located at 125 S. Washington Street, Gettysburg.  The First Friday reception is free and open to the public. The show will remain up through the month of April.

Members of a Healing heARTS sponsored class met at the Adams County Arts Council’s Arts Education Center for five weeks this winter to explore how the expressive art of photography influenced their experience of the blues or sadness. They picked up new skills and discovered the interaction of art and feeling. Being drawn to take a certain picture served to make them feel more active and engaged, at times inspiring hope and appreciation for beauty in the world. Two Franciscans come to claim Sister Mary Amnesia (who has won the Publishers? Clearing House Sweepstakes) as one of their own. At the same time the nuns hear that a talent scout is in the audience to see them strut their stuff. Home Run Derby and Biser Trail Re-dedication

Memorial Day Free 5K & Come Walk With Me

Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies

Date:  May 27, 2019                                         Time:  2:00 p.m.

The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 2:00pm at Lefever Street in Gettysburg and head northeast to Middle Street; turn west on East Middle Street and south on Baltimore Street to the Soldiers’ National Cemetery. The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at the Rostrum in the Soldiers’ National Cemetery.

One Hundred Nights of Taps

The notes of Taps will fill the air in Gettysburg every evening this summer as the famous 24-note call is sounded in honor of those who have served our nation. Gettysburg Green Gathering

Come out to the Gettysburg Rec Park for a gathering of local musicians, food vendors and environmental educators promoting environmental stewardship. Adams County 2019 BarnArt Show and Sale

Once again, artists are invited to enter HGAC’s Annual BarnArt Show and Sale. The goal is the preservation of historic barns in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Artwork can be representational or abstract, and may use any art medium, including photography. All artworks in the BarnArt Show and Sale, must include some respresentation of a barn or a detail of a barn. Free and open to the public on Thursday, June 6th from 6-8pm, the opening night reception will also include light fare for all guests and artists. Judging of artwork and the award presentation will happen throughout the evening. The BarnArt Show and Sale will continue to run through Sunday, June 9th. Gettysburg Brass Band Festival

Date:  June 6-8, 2019

The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival, made possible by donations from individuals and businesses, highlights the tradition of Brass Band. Performers from the Mid-Atlantic and the area perform at various locations. The Festival has a new home, the main stage and Community Brass Picnic will be held at the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. Plein Air Artists will also be on site, as will a Brass Band Petting Zoo, where children and adults will have the opportunity to try different brass instruments.

The Longest Day Walk
